Your data is stored on secure servers in India (AWS Mumbai via Supabase). All connections are encrypted with SSL. You can also use Karat in offline desktop mode where data stays entirely on your computer.
Yes. The desktop version (Windows) works completely offline with a local database. The web/PWA version requires internet but caches pages for basic offline access. Data syncs automatically when you're back online.
Yes. Karat supports Indian GST (CGST + SGST / IGST with HSN codes), GCC VAT, and Saudi Arabia's ZATCA e-invoicing. Tax rates are configurable — never hardcoded.
Yes. Karat is a Progressive Web App (PWA). Open app.karat.in on your mobile browser and tap "Add to Home Screen". It works like a native app. Full desktop experience on tablets and laptops.
Fully. Karat supports English, Arabic (with full RTL layout), Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, and Malay. Switch languages in Settings. Invoices are printed in your customer's language.
Karat's billing module has a dedicated "Old Gold" section. Enter the weight and purity of gold the customer brings in, set the rate, and it automatically deducts from the invoice total. The gold accountability ledger updates in real time.
Yes. Karat has 5 roles: Owner (full access), Manager (operations + financials), Salesperson (billing only), Accountant (reports + accounts), and Factory Manager (job orders only). Each role sees only what they need.
